Great toy with some minor adjustments and the right ball

I picked up one of these hoops recently for five bucks at a local Walmart. Straight out of the box it has some deficiencies, but they can be easily fixed with some household items.First problem: the net does not stay attached well to the hoop. After even the gentlest of movement, the attachment points of the net to the hoop will easily fall off. I fixed this by putting a small band of electrical tape around the net in each of the six areas of the hoop that support the net. Problem solved!Second problem: with any dunk or even a long jump shot, the hoop itself will rotate toward the floor because of how it is designed. A simple solution to this issue is to hang the hoop upside down. Unfortunately, you probably shouldn't dunk the ball really hard in this configuration or you'll end up snapping the plastic. But for casual jump shots and dunks where you don't grab hold of the rim, it seems to work fine.Another modification I performed was to mount the hoop directly onto the wall using two screws in the black plate that holds the hoop in place. I'm not a very tall person, but I still found the hoop to be too close to the ground when mounted over a door as intended. By screwing it directly above my door, it's the perfect height with enough room for decent arc when tossing up shots from three point range.I also use a different ball than the one that comes with the set. I live in the top floor of an apartment building, and the included ball, though soft, still makes a loud thud whenever it hits the hardwood floor. So I replaced it with a cloth, cotton filled ball of roughly the same size- it's lighter, so there's less wear and tear on the hoop itself, and it's much quieter for my downstairs neighbor.Overall, great product. Just make some adjustments so that the hoop accommodates your individual needs, and it'll be a great, cheap form of entertainment for those lazy days at home.

Shoddy construction at its finest!

This product is pure junk. Every single time the ball makes contact with the rim or the backboard the hoop falls down. Further, every other time the ball goes through the hoop one, or more, of the places where the net connects to the rim comes off. Seriously. My 2.5 year old son enjoys shooting hoops, but he cannot do it by himself because the rim keeps falling down and the net keeps coming off. Look elsewhere for a basketball hoop for your toddler.

Fun while it lasts

I bought this for my 8 year-old son. It's basically a plastic hoop with net that attaches to the cardboard packaging for the backboard. Pretty flimsy construction -- don't expect to be doing any dunks on it. It works fine for kicking-back on the bed and shooting hoops though.
