Purchased this for my best friend's son for his 6th birthday. I googled lists of best toys for this age group and this was on the list. I didn't know if he would like it or not because he is used to receiving toys with all the bells and whistles and this seemed a little "low tech" for him, but I took a chance because I am a firm believer in "low tech" toys! Well, turns out that it ended up being the favorite toy at the party, not just his favorite, but everyone was arguing over it!The "cross bow" really has no function other than to look pretty cool, it really is just a gun that shoots these arrows very, very far! Really fun and allows the children to play with the toy and not be directed by the toy. Also, there is an element of exercise that happens when they have to go get the arrows they shoot - they go so far that the kids really have to run to get them.

My son(6 years old)received this toy for Christmas 2011. It seemed like a really good toy and my son was loving it, but unfortunately it only worked for about 30 minutes. The last time he pulled it back so he could fire it, I heard something pop inside of it. Apparently something came loose or broke inside and now it doesn't work. My mil called today to try and get another one shipped but they are now unavailable and we have to send it back for a refund. :-/

Packaging is generic. Toy and the refill arrows seem like something i would get at a dollar store. Well see if it falls apart after my seven year old gets ahold of it. Im not going to return it due to hassle, id would look at other products before buying this item.
